Marko Šprem was born in Zagreb in 1988. He received his Masters degree in 2014 from Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing in Zagreb. His research during the study was focused on fiber optic technology. From January 2015 till January 2019 he worked as a research assistant at the Department of Wireless Communications (ZRK) on a fiber-optic communications project titled EXCAR funded by the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ).
He graduated in October 2018 with PhD thesis titled "Optical communication based on wavelength reuse and modulation averaging" with Summa Cum Laude, under the supervision of prof. Dubravko Babić.
He is also an originator of the project CROSPERITY, alongside Dario Bojanjac and Josip Lončar.
In January 2019 he moved to Department of Electronic Systems and Information Processing (ZESOI), where enrolled as PostDoc he enriched his knowledge with digital signal processing, and researched new photonic technologies.
In September 2020 Marko moved to Ruđer Bošković Institute in prof. Tolić group, where he continues his photonic journey in laser microscopy and super-resolution.
